A person is an energy system in which body, mind, and spirit are an integrated whole, each influencing and balancing the other. A universal life energy called Qi (“chee”) flows in all living creatures, circulating throughout the body along specific pathways called meridians. As long as this energy flows freely throughout the meridians, health is maintained. Once the flow of energy is blocked, imbalance, pain and disease occur. An acupuncturist unblocks stagnation, removes excess and nourishes deficiency by inserting very fine needles into points along the meridians. The aim of an acupuncture treatment is to regulate the flow of Qi and bring the patient into balance. As the patient returns to balance, healing occurs: increased circulation occurs, pain is reduced, the immune system is strengthened, and the patient experiences an overall feeling of wellness.

An acupuncture session with me involves diagnosis by way of systematic palpation, which provides instant feedback. Through palpation, I identify areas of stagnation and precise acupuncture points to relieve that stagnation. Every treatment is dependent on feedback I receive from my client’s pulses and responses to palpation. By tailoring each treatment to the individual patient, I address not only symptoms but also constitutional imbalances that underlie those symptoms, assisting in genuine changes toward healing.
